The New Ulm City Council is expected to make an appointment to fill the unexpired term of City Council Ward 2, during their Tuesday, November 17, meeting. The council is scheduled to conduct candidate interviews 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the Council Chambers. No action or candidate selection will take place during the interview process, but the council is planning to make a final selection during the regular city council meeting that begins at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The list of applicants to be interviewed include Marinda Kimmel, Rick Traulich, Terry Sveine and Eric Warmka. Former Ward 2 City Councilor Lisa Fischer resigned October 7 with two years remaining on her term. The council needs to appoint a person to the seat for the remainder of the term that expires in 2022. The city took applications for the vacant seat. The deadline to apply was Nov. 6.
