Brown County commissioners expressed unanimous support Tuesday for building a recycling storage facility at the Brown County Sanitary Landfill. Brown County has seen an increase of recyclable materials collected at mobile events. Comments and suggestions to collect other materials not normally accepted at the events, such as fluorescent light bulbs and batteries, have been received. County staff believes a facility where items could be stored until collections happen, and as a place for residents to bring material to, would be a long-term benefit to the county. Commissioners unanimously approved: The ten-year road and bridge construction program, on a motion by Windschitl, seconded by Commissioner Tony Berg. Changes made are based on current construction costs, bond payments, estimated state aid and wheelage tax, a $125,000 local construction levy and continuation of a local sales tax. Authorizing GEI Consultants to prepare and submit an air quality permit application from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), on a motion by Simonsen, seconded by Berg. Proposal costs are estimated at $19,000.
