Brown County Commissioners unanimously approved extending the number of temporary help hours to assist with the November 2020 General Election Tuesday. Approval to hire Diane Melzer for about 30 hours a week for the next eight or nine weeks came on a motion by Commissioner Tony Berg. Commissioners also unanimously approved: Scheduling a proposed drainage assessment public hearing for 9 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15. Total assessments to be considered are $1,924,100. Repayment options and setting landowner interest rates for landowners who opt to pay over a three-year lien period will be addressed. Appointing Dan Kalk as Brown County Chief Deputy Attorney as of Aug. 28, 2020. Brown County Attorney Chuck Hanson said Kalk is his most experienced attorney and the logical choice for the job. After Hanson was elected Brown County Attorney, he hired Kalk to return to the county attorney’s office in July 2016.
