The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) school board will canvass its election on Monday, Aug. 17 in the junior/senior high auditorium. Other agenda items are: A back to school plan presentation and 2020-2021 base learning model proposal by GFW cabinet members. Elementary Principal Jennifer Thompson reports the most recent survey shows 78% of families plan to send their children back to school, 6% will use the district’s distance learning plan and 15% are undecided. Thompson said undecided families and those who did not take the survey will be called to see if they have questions. She said 235 families responded to the survey so far. Thompson said all classroom desks will be placed facing one direction, students will access lockers in shifts and classroom libraries will be placed in hallways if needed. Students will have 50 minutes of combined recess/physical education daily.
