The Courtland Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire in an old animal fat tank at the Hanska Farmers Cooperative (HFC) feed mill in Courtland Wednesday. Two fire trucks and a van were on the scene quickly, just a few blocks from the fire station, in the east end of town. The fire call was received shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters began rolling up hoses after about 30 minutes on the scene. Nobody was injured in the fire. Damage was contained to the old animal fat tank which is not used anymore. The fire is still under investigation according to Courtland Fire Department Captain Dan Stein.
