A homeless woman faces felony drug sale and possession charges and misdemeanor charges of carrying a BB gun in a public place. Charges were filed against Hannah C. Nelson in Brown County District Court Monday. Her bail was set at $25,000 without conditions; no bail with conditions. An initial court appearance was set for 8:30 a.m. July 14. New Ulm Police were dispatched to the Econo Lodge, in New Ulm July 2 for a report of two men and woman acting suspiciously, entering and exiting a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. Police were aware the vehicle is commonly driven by Nelson, due to many past calls involving her and the car. Nelson told police she was visiting a man at the Econo Lodge because he owes her “$200 for driving him around.” A witness told police Nelson and the men were involved in suspicious activity, what he thought was “drug runs” since 5 a.m., digging in the car and making trips to the room and car. Items seized by police included 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, three uncased BB guns, multiple methamphetamine pipes and small bongs, marijuana pipes, and a small amount of THC wax.
