Gov. Tim Walz announced a lifting of restriction to allow greater use of restaurants, fitness centers, swimming pools and movie theaters. The changes will go into effect Wednesday, June 10. Restaurants, salons and swimming pools will be allowed to operate with 50% capacity. Fitness centers and indoor entertainment venues will be allowed to operate with 25% capacity or a maximum of 250 people. Outdoor entertainment venues, such as sporting events, concerts and theaters may open at 25% capacity. Places of worship can increase occupancy rates to 50 percent. News of the eased restrictions spread fast through New Ulm’s downtown businesses. Despite the lift on requirements, restaurants are still being asked to exercise social distancing with customers and reservations are required.
