The license bureau in New Ulm will face a multitude of challenges in the months ahead, due to the current health crisis and due to staffing considerations. With the state shutdown, there is going to be a tremendous demand for driver’s license renewals, according to the request. According to Gov. Walz’ executive orders, drivers will be allowed 60 days after the peacetime emergency is lifted to renew driver’s licenses. In addition, there is discussion about allowing drivers to obtain a provisional license without taking a road test, according to the request.
