The United Way of the Brown County Area has made their second round of COVID-19 emergency non-profit assistance grant awards. These grants support non-profit organizations that provide services to families and individuals in Brown County who are struggling due to the COVID-19 crisis. Kristine Rueckert of Farmers Insurance worked with the United Way Executive Director to secure a grant of $1,500 for the United Way’s COVID-19 Fund. Round 2 grant awardees: • Southern Minnesota Crisis Nursery-$1,000 United Way COVID-19 grant award to supplement an increase in child shelter staffing cost. • Springfield Food Shelf-$500 United Way COVID-19 grant award to give out produce and vegetable vouchers to food shelf users to purchase them at local grocery stores.
