A 42-year-old Sleepy Eye man faces a felony charge of making threats of violence and two other charges after allegedly threatening his neighbor, the neighbor’s wife and grandchildren Monday. Charges were filed Wednesday in Brown County District Court against Gary Hooks of 300 Water St., S.W. Sleepy Eye. Charges include a charge of felony threats of violence, a gross misdemeanor charge of violating a Harassment Restraining Order (HRO) and a charge of harassment-intent to injure. According to court documents, a man called Sleepy Eye Police at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 27 and said Hooks had threatened his wife and grandchildren. The alleged victim said Hooks threatened him and his family. He said Hooks said on the video seen by Andres that he would only spend three days in jail if he killed them because he would be in his rights to shoot them. Hooks’ unconditional bail was set at $20,000; $5,000 with conditions Wednesday. Conditions include having no contact with alleged victims and not entering their residence. A court hearing was set for 8:30 a.m., May 12.
