A 31-year-old New Ulm man caught in a May 2019 drug sting in New Ulm was sentenced and fined $4,660 in Brown County District Court April 17. Daniel G. Braun pleaded guilty to 1st-degree felony drug sale 17 grams or more of methamphetamine within 90 days. A second charge of 1st-degree drug sale was dismissed. A 114 month commitment to the St. Cloud Correctional Facility was stayed for 20 years supervised probation. He was credited with 7 days served. Other probation conditions include successful completion of the Brown Nicollet Watonwan County Drug Court program, paying a $800 fee, completing a chemical use and mental health diagnostic assessments, outpatient chemical dependency treatment and following all recommendations. According to court documents, Braun sold a crystal substance that tested positive for meth to a confidential informant in the 3M parking lot May 1 and in the Running’s parking lot May 8, 2019. The first drug sale included 27.5 grams of meth; the second sale involved 110.5 grams of the drug, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
