Governor Tim Walz, MnDOT Commissioner Margaret Anderson Kelliher, New Ulm Mayor Bob Beussman and many other legislators and dignitaries were in Nicollet Friday to unveil the potential funding to get the Highway 14 project from Nicollet to New Ulm complete. Funding is in place and the project is shovel ready. All that’s needed is legislative approval. All the dignitaries that were at the press conference were optimistic the funding will get passed because of the importance of the project and because it is shovel-ready. If all goes as legislators plan, there could be a ground breaking next year, construction could start the year after that and would last approximately two years. Legislators say this is the closest the project has ever been to being approved for completion.
