Governor Tim Walz is asking the legislature to designate $250-thousand for farm safety programs in Minnesota.  Michele Gran’s son Landon died last summer when he was caught in a grain bin auger near St. Peter and she says his death cannot be in vain.  She testified before the legislature to make Minnesota a leader in farm safety.  Governor Walz wants the state to give farmers financial incentives to retrofit eligible tractors with rollover protection and invest in grain bin safety equipment.  And Walz wants an outreach program that highlights tractor and grain bin safety, and also promotes those reimbursementor cost-share programs.
