First District Minnesota Congressman Jim Hagedorn has disclosed he has cancer. Hagedorn said Wednesday he was diagnosed with state-four kidney cancer about a year ago and has received treatment at Rochester’s Mayo Clinic. Hagedorn’s doctor says he has responded well to immunotherapy, which has been key to his recovery. Hagedorn says he got the diagnosis two months after marrying state Republican Party Chair jennifer Carnahan, and just six weeks into his term as congressman. Hagedorn says his diagnosis and treatments are not affecting his ability to do his job nor will it affect his candidacy for re-election.
