The New Ulm City Council held a work session Tuesday and the topic was the downtown garland. A petition by area citizens has been established and presented to the city council requesting the city continue the holiday tradition. The city has considered eliminating the garland due to liability concerns. Many people spoke in favor of the garland and finding ways to keep it as a longstanding tradition in New Ulm. Tuesday was a work session so the council could not make a formal decision but the garland sub-committee decision will be added to the next city council meeting.
