An estimated 33,210 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Minnesota this year and the American Red Cross says patients fighting cancer need more blood than patients fighting any other disease, using nearly one-quarter of the nation’s blood supply. The American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to encourage Minnesotans to Give Blood, Give Time. Blood drives today (Thursday) will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm from 10 – 4 and at the American Red Cross location in Mankato from 12:30 – 5:30. Blood drives Friday include at the Mankato American Red Cross location from 9 – 1 and Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato from 1 – 6.
