The GFW School Board rescheduled a decision to close a school building in Fairfax until Monday, February 24.  Superintendent Lonnie Seifert told the board Monday evening that he received a financial offer from the city of Gibbon and urged the board to reschedule the closure decision after consulting with the school district’s legal counsel.  The board was originally scheduled to act on a proposal to close the Fairfax building to save money as part of the district’s three-year statutory operating debt plan that was submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education.  The City of Fairfax recently offered up to four years of free utilities at the Fairfax school if the board decided to keep it open.
