The St. Peter City Council will discuss if a Local Option Sales Tax should be used to help fund a ptential new fire hall at their meeting tonight (Monday).  The council discussed the matter in a work session last week.  City Manager Todd Prafke says the council will be asked to approve asking voters for a local option sales tax.  If the council approves that tonight, there are several steps that will need to take place.  The next step would be asking the state legislature for approval.  If that happens,  then the matter would go before voters in November.  Prafke says the city is considering a half to three-quarter cent sales tax.  Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 in the Governor’s Room of the St. Peter Community Center.
