Representative Jim Hagedorn was in New Ulm on Friday to several issues facing the region. One issue was the Highway 14 Expansion project. MnDOT applied for a BUILD grant through the US Department of Transportation for $25 billion earlier this year. Hagedorn said they expect to hear who the grants were awarded to within the next week.
He discussed also the importance of getting a vote on the USMCA and that the government is trying their best to aid Sleepy Eye following Del Monte’s announcement. He said their focused on getting those employees hired at other area businesses and filling that plant.
He said they have their concerns, but they want to be as helpful as possible.
