The Renville County Sheriff’s Office reports that one man was injured in a farming accident on Wednesday afternoon. Deputies were dispatched to the site about 4 miles north of Hector for the report of a man trapped in a corn head. They discovered that 28-year-old Bejamin Beadell of Hector had one leg trapped in a corn head mechanism between snouts. The investigation revealed that the combine was stationary while Beadell and others were working near the running corn head. Beadell’s leg became pinned in the head by its gathering chains. A slip clutch on the head then engaged, which prevented Beadell from being pulled further into the mechanism. Beadell was freed from the machine and later flown to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale. His injuries were considered non-life threatening. The Hector Ambulance Service, Hector Fire and Rescue, North Air Care all assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
