A St. James man has been convicted of murder. The Mankato Free Press reports that the jurors didn’t believe 60-year-old Scott Engelbrect’s story that he accidentally shot his stepdaughter, 43-year-old Rachel Linder. Engelbrecht also claimed that Linder killed his 67-year-old wife, Joyce Engelbrecht. The jury took under 4 hours to determine that Scott was guilty of first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as assault for pointing a gun at his step-grandson. The first-degree murder conviction comes with a mandatory life sentence.
