A man was shot in the face during a hunting accident in Carver County on Sunday morning. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office received a call just before 8a.m. that 61-year-old David Hoese of Hollywood Township was wounded after being struck by BBs fired from a shotgun while duck hunting. Hoese and his partner were moving a boat into position when the partner set his gun down to secure the boat and the gun went off. Hoese was hit in the chest and face in his own boat about 10 to 15 feet away. Hoese was taken to Hennepin Health Care with non-life threatening injuries, but he did require eye surgery. The incident remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind people of the importance of practicing firearm safety.
