The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was killed in a grain bin accident near Belle Plaine on Tuesday afternoon. They report that 74-year-old Roger Slater of Eagan was unloading soybeans from the bin before becoming trapped and engulfed in soybeans. Deputies and Emergency Personnel cut open the side of the bin to release grain to try to remove the man. Slater was located about an hour after authorities arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene. Slater was working at his own farming operation at the time of the accident.
