A St. Peter woman is facing a financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult charge after being accused of stealing Social Security income intended for a man with Down syndrome. The Mankato Free Press reports that St. Peter Police began investigating after the man’s rent had gone unpaid. The investigation showed that over $2,300 was missing. The man’s guardian, 33-year-old Stephanie Menke told the investigators that the income was mixed with hers, but she didn’t do it on purpose as she found the role confusing. Menke was charged on Tuesday in Nicollet County Court.
