Police in Mankato are asking the community to take an active role in crime prevention by locking the doors and windows of your vehicles and homes. Since July 1st, there have been 72 incidents involving tampering or thefts inside a motor vehicle in Mankato. Most of the incidents occurred because of unlocked vehicle doors and windows. Police advise the public to keep your windows up, doors locked, and the interior of your vehicle empty. Remove or place power cords for electronics out of sight, park in well lighted areas, and remove all valuables from your vehicle. As always, Police urge you to call 911 if you see suspicious activity.
