Goldfish are causing some problems in Chaska. Goldfish were found in an inlet around the Grace Chain of Lakes last year and the numbers have grown significantly. The Carver County Water Management Organization suspects that because of the connections of the lakes, the fish may also be in other lakes in this chain. Goldfish are an invasive species, related to common carp, which are known to cause water quality issues. They do not want these species to spread to other lakes and streams. If you have an aquarium animal or plant that you no longer want, contact a retailer or vet to find out how to safely and humanely get rid of it. It is illegal to release most non-native species, including goldfish, into the wild in Minnesota.
