The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council announced that Youth Scholarships of $27,000 from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund have been awarded to 70 students in grades 7-12 and 30 students in grades 3-6 throughout the region, a number of them from Brown County. There was $5,700 in Arts Scholarships awarded to twenty-two Brown County youth. Students will be involved in a variety of activities including: music lessons at New Ulm Suzuki School of Music; and a variety of lessons in cello, piano, and violin from independent instructors.


Thirteen students in Brown County were awarded $300 scholarships and include: Owen Dunkel, Evelyn Friese, Emily Guggisberg, Noah Huseby, Leah Menzel, Lydia Meyer, Jessica Moellenhoff, Sebastian Smith, Bethany Spike, and Magdalyn Spikewho are from New Ulm.  Gunval Coulson resides in Sleepy Eye; and Grace Goedtke and Joseph Goedtke are from Comfrey.

Nine students in Brown County were awarded $200 scholarships and include:  Elizabeth Borgen, Joshua Carlovsky, Nathaniel Carlovsky, Jamis Martens, Ashlyn Rodewald, Norah Rodewald, and Ainsley Tess who are from New Ulm. Anna Mages resides in Sleepy Eye and Paul Goedtke is from Comfrey.
