A Mankato man has been charged after breaking a Commander with the Mankato Department of Public Safety’s finger while being arrested in September. The Commander was dispatched to a business to locate 41-year-old Tomak Zarif who had three body only warrants against him. When the officer asked Zarif for his identification, he went to his backpack to retrieve it and pushed passed the officer, knocking a stand of items over. The officer took Zarif to the ground and struggled to stay in control and had to call for backup. After arresting Zarif, the officer realized that his pinky finger was broken during the struggle. Zarif faces assault and obstructing the legal process charges.
