A Blaine man is facing felony charges after trying to break into a car wash coin dispenser in Lake Crystal. Early Wednesday morning, a Deputy with the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office noticed a vehicle running in park near a car wash in Lake Crystal and someone near the coin machine area of the car wash. The Deputy searched the man, identified as 42-year-old Richard Hegquist, and found a crowbar and a broken lock and a screw. Hegquist admitted that he was at the car wash to steal from the machines and that he had just smoked methamphetamine while driving from Blaine to Blue Earth. The deputy later found a meth pipe in Hegquist’s vehicle along with a cup full of quarters, which Hegquist claimed he won in a poker game. The deputy was also alerted that Hegquist was suspect in several thefts from laundromats in Sherburne County.
