A New Ulm couple is facing multiple charges after being caught in a drug sting conducted by the Brown Lyon Redwood and Renville County Drug Task Force. An agent with the Task Force was contacted by a criminal informant that had been in contact with 35-year-old Jodi Simon agreed to sell the informant methamphetamine and would travel to Redwood Falls to make the transaction. The agents followed the Informant to the Wal-Mart parking lot, where the informant entered a vehicle driven by Simon’s husband, 31-year-old Levi Zinniel, and they drove around until the transaction was complete. They returned to the parking lot and marked cars moved in, which led to a pursuit. The officers observed Simon throw a handgun and a BB gun out the car window. The vehicle pulled over and arrests were made and both were charged with 2 counts of controlled substance crimes and certain persons not to possess firearms and Zinniel was charged with fleeing a peace officer. A search warrant was executed on the vehicle and more substances were located and more charges are expected to be filed.
