At last night’s meeting the New Ulm City Council disagreed on how they should move forward in the process of hiring a new City Manager. The council was presented with proposals from two executive search firms to move forward with the City Manager recruitment. With a 3-2 vote, the council ultimately decided to move forward with David Drown Associates, which had a fee of $18,000. Councilor Charles Schmitz cast a dissenting vote, saying that he thought the City would be spending money that they didn’t need to spend. While Councilor Lisa Fischer made the motion to move forward with the firm because she believed it would make the process more organized and draw in a larger pool of candidates.
