The Mankato man who reported a hit-and-run on October 26th has been charged with Falsely Reporting a Crime. 21-year-old Lane Akan reported to police that he was walking when a woman in her 20’s struck him with her Chevy Malibu. Akan claimed that he had bruised ribs from the accident, but officers observed that he was walking effortlessly. The officer questioned Akan if the accident actually happened and told him that she would review the area surveillance footage, and that he could be charged with filing a false police report.
