An Owatonna man has been charged after attempting to push stolen merchandise down a Mankato street in a shopping cart. On Friday morning a Mankato Police Officer noticed a man struggling to push the overflowing cart in the snow and ice down Sioux Road. The Officer pulled up behind 39-year-old Shane Johnson and approached him on foot. Johnson told the officer that he had purchased the items and was on his way to the mall to get food. Johnson was unable to produce a receipt for the items. The Officer called the store and was told that they had just called the dispatch to alert them of a man walking out of the store with a cart full of stolen merchandise. The store’s Asset Protection confirmed that all the items recovered were property of the store and valued at around $1,500.
