New Ulm Public Schools has been working hard to enhance its Career Technical Education programming. The CTE program works with kids to develop skillsets that prepare them for careers in different vocational areas like agriculture, manufacturing, computer science, or culinary arts. Superintendent Jeff Bertrang said they are working with the New Ulm area businesses to find out what jobs need to be filled. This program allows students to get out and see what these jobs look like in the real world. It also allows them to visit different vocational and tech schools. Bertrang said that they visited with area businesses to find out what technology students should be familiar with, and then brought that into the schools. They have added this new technology into their Middle School and plan on revamping the High School labs as well.
