hunting-accident

A teenager in Morgan was shot in a hunting accident on Monday afternoon. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 2:00 p.m. that an individual was involved in a hunting accident. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Morgan Ambulance Service and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene and found that 16-year-old Nadia Meyers was party hunting for small game when another member of the same hunting party shot at a rabbit and struck Meyers in the back of her legs at a distance of 91-feet with bird shot. Meyers was transported by the Morgan Ambulance Service to the Sleepy Eye Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources are investigating the shooting incident. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind hunters to; treat every firearm as if it were loaded; only point at what you plan to shoot; keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot; and before shooting, clearly identify your target and what is beyond the target.
